Mildred Riepe

Mildred L. Riepe, 96, of Danville, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Oct. 22, 1908, in Sperry, she was the daughter of Frank and Nellie Swan Riepe.

Miss Riepe taught school at Baxter, Center Junction, Mediapolis, Washington and Burlington for 46 years, retiring in 1974.

She was a graduate of Sperry High School, attended Coe College and received a bachelor of arts and a master of arts degree from the University of Iowa. She was a member of Danville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and was a 50-year member of the OES, the NEA, ISEA and the Des Moines County Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include two cousins, Elberta Steckel of Davenport and Amy Woolwine of Mediapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

As per her request, Miss Riepe donated her body to the University of Iowa College of Medicine for scientific purposes. Burial will be in Old Stone Cemetery in Sperry at a later date.

Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
