Mrs. Elsie Mae Upton, 73, of 1307 S. Garfield, died in University hospitals, Iowa City, at 11:58 p.m. Sunday, July 26.

She was born Nov. 15, 1908, at Raywick, Ky., to Thomas and Anna Myers Hash. She married Rollen Upton Dec 14, 1963, in Burlington; he died March 7, 1971.

Mrs. Upton was a member of St Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Navy Mothers, and Women of the Moose.

Surviving: son, Ray Prier, Burlington; two daughters, Beverly Ann Jacoby, Suisin, Calif., and Dorothy Prier, at home; two sisters, Mildred Holton, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Allene Morton, Cullman, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Mary Church, the Rev. Louis Mulligan; Aspen Grove Cemetery. Rosary: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lunning chapel. A memorial to her church has been established.
