Charles Oaks
Charles Wayne Oaks, 61, of LaHarpe, Ill., died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at his home.

Born July 17, 1946, in Burlington, he was the son of Seth and Catherine Magee Oaks. On Nov. 9, 1998, he married Juanita Bundy.

Mr. Oaks was a truck driver for 34 years and drove for Star Transport and Barr-Nunn Transportation. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW in Carthage, Ill., and LaHarpe American Legion Post 301.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Crystal West of Monmouth, Ill., Melody Shryack of Altona, Ill., Tanya Lynn Haines of Blandinsville, Ill., Cynthia Marie Dennis of Memphis, Mo. and Angela Oaks of Seward, Neb.; six grandchildren; one step-grandson; one great-grandson; one sister, Beverly Salyers of Roseville, Ill.; and one niece and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson and one stepdaughter.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1p.m. Sunday at the Moose Club in Galesburg, Ill. Burial will be held at a later date at Biggsville Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Blessing Hospice of Hancock County and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Banks and Beals Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
