Vivian Hobbs
Vivian Lucille Hobbs, 87, of Lowell, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Oct. 8, 1919, she was the daughter of Thomas Lee and Goldie Derby Lankford. On Aug. 30, 1935, she married Francis "Pete" Hobbs in Fairfield. He died May 11, 1980.

She attended the country school at Richland. Mrs. Hobbs worked at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and New London Care Center, where she retired after 17 years as dietary supervisor. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading and watching westerns on television.

Survivors include three sons; Frank Hobbs of Burlington, Benny Hobbs of Lowell and Lee Hobbs of Broomfield, Colo., 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren;13 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters; Helen Baker of Fairfield, Dorothy Ross of Lenexa, Kan., Betty Morrow of Romaland, Calif., and Shirley Niece of Richland, and one brother; Kenneth Lankford of Mound City, Kan.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 12 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliot Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Hobbs will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliot Chapel. Burial will be in Lowell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Lowell Street Light Fund.
