Fern Wilkerson
Fern Louise Wilkerson, 91, of West Burlington, died at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at Danville Care Center.

Born Sept. 3, 1915 in Pleasant Grove Township, she was the daughter of Frank J. and Sophia A. Schwerin Stout. On Oct. 11, 1932, she married Fred R. Wilkerson in Oquawka, Ill. He died Aug. 28, 1972.

Mrs. Wilkerson worked at Ross Manufacturing and in the laundry department of Burlington Medical Center, retiring at the age of 73. She attended rural Snyder School. She was a member of Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Grove.

Survivors include three daughters, Eileen Kleinkopf and Janet Asmus, both of Middletown, and Rebecca Rodeffer of West Burlington; one son, Fred R. "Fritz" Wilkerson Jr. of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, her parents, two granddaughters and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Wilkerson will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Robert Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Shinar Cumberland Cemetery, Pleasant Grove.

Memorials have been established for Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Danville Care Center.
