Jack Parker
John J. "Jack" Parker, 82, of Fort Madison, died at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born on Feb. 20, 1925, in Chicago, he was the son of Thomas and Cecilia Powers Parker. On June 1, 1966, he married Thelma M. Hoenig in Joliet, Ill.; she died March 13, 1993.

Mr. Parker was a truck driver for National Cartage Co. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Jeffries of Burlington; two grandchildren; one half brother, Robert McCarthy of Louisville, Ky; and a companion, Laura Stoneburner of Fort Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and one sister.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Parker will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Bettyanna Bremer officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
