Gail Sutton
Gail L. Sutton, 90, of Lomax, Ill., died at 4:58 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Ill.

Born Jan. 4, 1917, in Lomax, he was the son of Harry and Alice Wolfe Sutton. On Nov. 5, 1938, he married Mildred "Topsy" Kemp in Kahoka, Mo.

Mr. Sutton served in the Army during World War II. He worked at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, and was a section hand for the Santa Fe Railroad and had worked for the state of llinois Highway Department for four years. Most recently, he was employed at J.I. Case Co. in Burlington for several years, retiring in 1979. He attended Lomax Christian Church, and was a member of the Carman-Lomax Senior Citizens. He enjoyed gardening, and was a die-hard Cubs fan.

Survivors include one daughter; Sandra Schertz of Lomax, two sons; Terry Sutton of Gilbert, Ariz., James Sutton of Dallas City, Ill., 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Sutton will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home with the Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial will be in Carman Cemetery in Carman, Ill.

A memorial has been established for Lomax Christian Church and Carman-Lomax Senior Citizens.
