Melvin Wasson
Melvin Wasson, 75, formerly of Burlington, died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 1994, at the Morning Sun Care Center in Morning Sun.

Born May 7, 1919, in Burlington, he was the son of Walter Edward and Mary Elizabeth Jackson Wasson. On Nov. 3, 1952, he married Ruth Miller in West Burlington. She died Aug. 7, 1978.

Mr. Wasson was a farm laborer and worked in the shipping department of C&E until his retirement.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, V.F.W. Post 9162 of Burlington and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 150 of Burlington.

Survivors include one son, Walter Wasson of Burlington; two sisters, Bonnie Bowers of Morning Sun and Anna Norman of Galesburg, Iowa; one brother, Dale Wasson of Charleston, S.C.; many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter, four brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Prugh's Chapel.

The funeral for Mr. Wasson will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Edmission of the First United Presbyterian Church of Morning Sun officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in West Burlington.
