W.L. Minnis

W.L. "Bill" Minnis, 61, of Morning Sun, died Sunday morning at the Morning Sun Care Center.

Born Jan. 30, 1921, at Buckingham, Iowa, he was the son of Oscar Walter and Eunice Crawford Minnis. On July 4, 1941, he married Martha L. Wells in Memphis, Mo.

Mr. Minnis was a former owner of Morning Sun Grain. He was a graduate of Morning Sun High School. He was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a charter member of Indian Hills, a former charter member of the Morning Sun Lions and a former member of the American Legion in Morning Sun.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry Minnis and Mark Minnis, both of Morning Sun, and Mike Minnis of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Enida Ivins of Morning Sun and Wanda Schmidt of Burlington.

Friends may call after noon Monday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, where the family will receive friends between 7 and 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Minnis will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Zeleny officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, with military rights conducted by the Morning Sun American Legion.

A memorial has been established.
