Charles A. Smith

Charles Albion Smith, 88, 2102 Racine Ave., was dead on arrival at Mercy hospital at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, July 27, following a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 15, 1880, in Pleasant Grove, the son of Robert and Mary Myers Smith.

Mr. Smith married Dora Perkins in Pleasant Grove. He was a retired farmer and member of the Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian church.

Surviving: a son, Virgil Smith, 2102 Racine, a daughter, Mrs. Helen Frick, 600 Parkway; four sisters, Mrs. Margretha Brandmeyer and Mrs. Olive Josephine Gaibel, both of Burlington, Mrs. Clara Leota Totemeier, New London, Mrs. Vanetta Quayle, Fairfield; two sons, Francis Herbert Smith, New London; Frederick Norton Smith, Burlington; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services: Tuesday, 11 a.m., Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian church, Pleasant Grove, Rev. W.O. Talley, Pleasant Grove cemetery. The body is at Elliot Lunning chapel.
