Ralph Ludington

Ralph D. Ludington, 64, of rural Stronghurst, Ill., died at 4:05 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Ill.

Born Dec. 20, 1936, in Monmouth, Ill., he was the son of John and Ellen Robbins Ludington. On Aug. 20, 1976, he married Becky Lipes in Cameron, Ill.

Mr. Ludington was a painting contractor for many years in the Stronghurst area. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was baptized at the Stronghurst Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife; eight daughters, LuAnn Brakeville of Little York, Ill., Valerie Tutwiler of Dallas City, Ill., Mary Carolan of Tempe, Ariz., Sue Phillips of Niota, Ill., Stephanie Knoedler of St. Anne, Mo., Cindy McNeely of Mesa, Ariz., Amanda Ludington of Burlington, Melanie Jack of Roseville, Ill.; five sons, Ralph Ludington II of Panhandle, Texas, Mark Ludington of Pontiac, Ill., Charles Ludington of Denver and Scott Ludington and Ron Ludington, both of Stronghurst; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Ludington of Cedar, Kan., and Donald Ludington of Siler, N.C.; and one sister, Maxine Quick of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst.

The funeral for Mr. Ludington will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Knox officiating. Burial will be in Stronghurst Cemetery.
