Robert Shepherd

Robert William Shepherd, 58, of Waukee, died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at his home.

Born Nov. 13, 1940, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert C. and Frances M. Bowman Shepherd. On Oct. 29, 1967, he married Dana L. Collins in Burlington.

Mr. Shepherd was a graduate of Burlington High School. He was a welder and built things out of metal. He last worked for Associated Leasing for five years.

He was of the Baptist faith and was very devoted to his family. He loved flying, old cars, scale model cars, fishing, traveling, whale watching and taking care of his yard.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beth Betz of Johnston and Jolie Huntrods of Colo; three grandchildren; his parents of Burlington; two sisters, Linda Fenton and Vickie Shepherd, both of Burlington; two brothers, Don Shepherd of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Tim Shepherd of Burlington.

Visitation will begin at noon today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Shepherd will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Presley officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Hospice of Central Iowa in Winterset.
