Robert Shepherd

Robert Chancelor Shepherd, 83, of Burlington, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Great River Medical Center.

Born Aug. 25, 1918, in Mediapolis, he was the son of Henry and Mary McLaughlin Shepherd. He married Frances Mary Bowman Sept. 16, 1939, in Kahoka, Mo.

Mr. Shepherd worked at Modern Welding and Campbell Chain Co. before they closed. He had driven a semi prior to that.

He loved to fish, camp and travel especially to the mountains of Colorado.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Shepherd Fenton of Burlington, and Vicky Shepherd, at home; two sons, Donald L. Shepherd of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Tim Shepherd, at home; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Luella Shepherd of Donnellson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, and two sisters.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday.

The funeral for Mr. Shepherd will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Frank Beaty officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
