Reginald "Reggie" Lucas

Reginald "Reggie" Robert Lucas, 55, of Montrose, IA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 11:07 a.m., after a courageous two–year fight with cancer.

He was born October 24, 1951 in Burlington, to Wilbur Frank and Gloria Jean Mehaffy Lucas. He graduated in 1969 from Davis County High School. On June 3, 1972 he married Christina Phillips. He then married Sharon James on September 24, 1983.

He worked for Sperry Union Store, he was co–owner of A & M Distributors, he worked for Niota Elevator and sold Wayne Feed products and also worked for Rothert Farms for 18 years. He then owned his own hog operation until he became sick. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Montrose and a former member of St. John's United Church of Christ in rural Burlington, where he served on the church council for many years. Reggie was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal and Iowa Hawkeye Fan.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of 23 years of Montrose; one son, Jason (Amber) Lucas of Montrose; stepson, Theodore James of Bloomington, Ind.; mother, Gloria (Jean) Lucas of Montrose; brother, Stephen (Arlean) Lucas of Warsaw, Ill.; sister, Judy Nalley of Burlington; sister–in–law, Linda James of Galesburg, Ill.; four grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great–nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Montrose. The Reverend Goldie Layman will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's U.C.C. Cemetery in rural Burlington, a luncheon will be held at St. John's U.C.C. immediately following the commital service. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2007 at King–Lynk Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Memorials have been established for St. John's Cemetery, Trinity United Methodist Church or Lee Co. Hospice; contributions may be left at King–Lynk Funeral Home.
