Fred Stigge Sr., 85, Rural West Burlington, died at 5:40 a.m. Friday following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 15, 1873 in Prairie Grove, the son of Herman and Helena Alberts Stigge. On May 12, 1896, he married Adina Breuer in Burlington. Stigge was a member of the Prairie Grove Grace Lutheran church, and had lived at his present address 44 years.

Survivors include Mrs. Stigge; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Petermann, West Burlington, and Mrs. Inez Dietsch, New London; three sons, Walter, Mount Pleasant, Willis and Fred J., West Burlington; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herman and Henry, and a sister, Mrs. Lena Heidenrich, all of Burlington. Two sons, four brothers, three sisters, a grandchild and one great grandchild are dead.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Prairie Grove Grace Lutheran church with its pastor, the Rev. William Kraemer officiating. Burial will in in Prairie Grove cemetery. The body will be at the Elliot chapel in New London until time for the services.
