Gilda Rutter

Gilda Arlene Rutter, 80, of Kingston died at 5:37 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born April 16, 1926, in Tama Township, she was the daughter of Walter and Esther Laue Kerr. On Sept. 23, 1946, she married Emmett Rutter in Burlington. He died March 14, 1994.

Mrs. Rutter was a homemaker and helped her husband on their family farm. She was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church and Ladies in Stitches.

Survivors include one daughter, Hillis Rutter of Kingston; two grandchildren; one sister, Joyce McDowell of California; nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, her parents and one brother.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Rutter will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Beth Briggs officiating. Interment will be in Kossuth Cemetery, rural Mediapolis.

A memorial has been established for Kingston United Methodist Church.
