William Frederick Beckman, son of William Beckman and Mary Schroeder Beckman was born near Dodgeville, Iowa Jan. 26, 1872.

He was baptized in the Lutheran Church.

He was united in marriage to Anna Pletscher at Burlington, Iowa October 22, 1901 and to this union six children were born.

All of his life was spent in Des Moines County. He was engaged in farming nearly all of his life.

Mr. Beckman is survived by four daughters: Miss Hazel Beckman, Mrs. Edwin Landwehr of Burlington, Mrs. Donald Taeger of Prairie Grove, Mrs. Charles Barnard of Los Angeles, California; one son Max of Danville; two brothers: John of Mediapolis and Wesley C. of Burlington; eight grandchildren: Philip and Larry Beckman, Lois, Donald, Dorothy and Kenneth Taeger and Zieglinde and Michael Landwehr, a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a wide circle of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, infant son, two sisters and three brothers.

He terminated his life October 25, 1949 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 29 days, while living at the home of his son, Max, where he had made his home during the last four years. He had been ill for four months.

He was a good father, friend and neighbor, whose first thoughts were of his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
