Richard Wick

Richard Anthony "Tony" Wick, 50, of New London, died of cancer at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born July 17, 1953, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Richard E. and Marilyn Nelson Wick. On May 27, 1978, he married Pam Edgington in Oakland Mills.

Mr. Wick worked construction his entire life. He retired from J.I. Case in Burlington.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of UAW Local 807. He served four years on the New London City Council and enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, St. Louis Cardinals, Hawkeyes, Broncos, Harley Davidson motorcycling and dogs.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jeremy Wick of Fairfield; two daughters, Susan Wick and Jenna Wick, both at home; his parents of New London; three sisters, Michelle McIntyre and Cheryl Parks, both of Danville, and Melanie Boyd of New London; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother and his grandparents.

Visitation will begin after noon Wednesday at Elliott Chapel in New London.

A celebration of life for Mr. Wick will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, with a time of remembrance at 6 p.m., with Pastor Robert Dameron officiating. A private family burial service will be Thursday in Jaggar Cemetery in Danville, with Pastor Dan Dingus officiating.

A memorial has been established.
