DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Francis A. "Frank" Hoeger, 78, of Dyersville, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Good Neighbor Home, Manchester.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Robert Gross officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Dyersville American Legion Post 137. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service 5 p.m. and an American Legion Service at 7 p.m.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1932, in Cascade, son of Bernard and Eleanor (Schlichte) Hoeger. He received his education at St. Francis Xavier School.

Frank was an Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War.

He married Clara Mae Clemen on April 14, 1958, at St. Francis Xavier, in Dyersville.

Frank was employed as a meat cutter at A&P and later at the Ertl Co. and Payless Foods, in Dyersville.

He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish, in Dyersville, the Dyersville American Legion Post 137 and the Meat Cutters Union.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Mae Hoeger, of Dyersville; four children, Sharon (Dan) Lehman, of Farley, Ron Hoeger and Ann (Chris) Wessels, both of Dyersville, and Mary Beth (Tom) Stecklein, of Cascade; eight grandchildren, Nic (Erin), Keith (Stacy) and Chad Lehman, Jordan and Adam Stecklein and Kara, Amber and Ben Wessels; four great-grandchildren, Drew, Elizabeth, Kyan and Kamden Lehman; a brother, Joe (Lois) Hoeger, of Dyersville; three sisters, Vera Curtis, of Dyersville, Delores Klostermann, of Dubuque, and Betty Jasper, of Farley; sisters-in-law, Gladys Hoeger, Mary Jane Clemen, Betty Clemen and Jeannie (Alan) Roling, all of Dyersville, and Diane (Larry) Bockenstedt, of Earlville; and brothers-in-law, Loras Clemen and Don Clemen, both of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bernie, Al and Tony Hoeger; his father- and mother-in-law, Arnold and Rosella Clemen; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Hoeger, Kay Hoeger, Paul Curtis, Vern Klostermann, Roy Jasper, Ralph and Geri Kay Clemen, Jerome Clemen and Theresa Clemen.
