DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Elizabeth N. "Betty" Hittenmiller, 86, of 606 Second St. NE, Dyersville, died at 5:25 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where a scripture wake service will be at 3 p.m., and a Dyersville American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

Elizabeth was born on March 15, 1926, in Jesup, daughter of Matt and Bertha Marie (Beeter) Demuth. She was a graduate of the Jesup High School. On Oct. 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to Myron Hittenmiller in Jesup.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, the Dyersville Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Rose Court 350 and the Dyersville American Legion Auxiliary.

Betty was an avid bowler, gardener, card player and crossword puzzler.

Surviving are her husband Myron "Flick" Hittenmiller, of Dyersville; her four children, Michael "Mike" (Linda) Hittenmiller, of Davenport, Jan (Gary "Pink") Kruse, of New Vienna, Bill (Laurie) Hittenmiller, of Shueyville, and Ray (Mary) Hittenmiller, of Rio Nido, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; and five brothers.
