Are there any Welch families in Delaware Co. and surrounding counties? If so, I need your help!
John Welch and Bridget Hennessey Welch appeared in Delaware Co. in or around 1855. I have census documents, land records, Wills, marriage records, and a death certificate.
With all of that, I still cannot find out how or why John & Bridget ended up in Iowa OR most importantly, where they came from.
Census gave their birthplace as Ireland. One of their children had said they were married in New York. ???
So I don't know what ship they came in on, or where it docked. Would like to find WHERE in Ireland they came from!
Their children were:
Edward (my grampa) married Mary Pelroy
Mary married John Hynes
Margaret married Patrick Scanlan
John married Kate Doyle
William married Elizabeth Foley
Ellen married John Faust
A wonderful lady from Manchester, many many years ago, scoured the courthouse there and found 90% of the documents I have.
BUT the end result: brick wall.
No birthplace, in Ireland, for John or Bridget.
Once again, are there any Welch families in your area that might belong to this line?
