Dr. Thomas E. Averitt was born Oct. 4, 1821 died Aug. 14, 1892 Oak Hill Cem. Colesburg, Ia. He was the s/o Thomas Crymes Averitt and Ann C. "Rowlett" Averitt. He married May 27, 1853 Malvina "Oldham" born Nov. 14, 1832 died June 18, 1922 d/o Richard and Julia Oldham.
Family: Dr. I. Frank Averitt, Dr. James F. Averitt, Josephine Sofrona Averitt married Philip Hansel, Henrietta Seymour Averitt married William Schrunk, Julia Ann Averitt married Jacob Landis, Mary Ellen Averitt D. Oct. 3, 1864, Margaret Virginia Averitt d. Jan. 1867, Emma Averitt d. Nov. 11, 1873. There maybe another son William Henry Averitt who died Sept. 11, 1960.
After the death of Dr. Thomas E. Averitt, his wife Melvina Oldham remarried a man by the name of Switzer, and she is buried in Aberdeen, Washington.
Dr. James F. Averitt was born 1854 and died in 1943. He moved to New York from Iowa. The Averitt family traces back to 1590 in Cornwall, England.
I. Frank Averitt the s/o Thomas & Malvina may have also been a Dr. and moved from Iowa to New York State. He married Emma, and had a son Edward Isaac Averitt B. Dec. 25, 1887 D.Feb. 28,1893 Oakhill Cem. Colesburg, Ia.
