George Acers
Again we are called upon to chronicle the death of another one of the early pioneers of this county.
George Acers died March 22nd at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Luther Sly in this township.

He was born in Herkimer county, New York, April 23, 1818. On the thirtieth anniversary of his birthday he was united in marriage with Miss Charlotte V. Scott and two years thereafter they came to this county and settled on a farm in this township. Ably assisted by his faithful wife they in time became possessors of a pleasant home where friends and strangers alike found a cordial welcome.

Some five years ago death deprived him of her, who had been for over forty five years his constant companion on life's journey.

As a citizen, this county had no better one than George Acers. He was a kind and affectionate husband and father, one of the best of neighbors, enemies he had none, all who knew him were his friends.

All of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Acers survive them. They are Mrs. Attie M. Sager, of this city, Mrs. Mary H. Sly, and Albert C. Acers of this township and Owen Acers of Concord, Nebraska.

The funeral services were held last Friday under the auspices of the Masonic lodge of this city. Rev. H.W.Tuttle preached the funeral discourse, and Judge E.P.Seeds made a few remarks appropriate to the occasion.
