MRS ROLAND BURBRIDGE

Another of the aged residents of Manchester pased away last week in the person of Mrs. Roland Burbridge. She was born at Gloversville, N. Y., on January 14, 1830, her maiden name being Emeline Hoag. When six years of age, she accompanied her parents to Burtrand, Mich., where she grew to young womanhood. On December 30th, 1849, she was united in marriage with Mr. Roldand Burbridge. After residing in Michigan for a number or years, the family came to Iowa in 1866, making their home on a farm some distances south of Greeley. here they continued to live until 1883, when they removed to Manchester.

Mrs. Burbridge was the mother of six children four of whom have preceded her to the other side. Wm. H. died, in 1896, Jacob, who died in Dubuque in 1916, and Jennie L. and a baby, both of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are Frank M. Burbridge of Oneida, and Mrs. Fannie B. Noble of Manchester. It was at the home of the latter where Mrs. Burbridge spent the declining years of her life, and where she passed away on March 21st, 1919. Mr. Burbridge died in 1905, and during the years of her widowhood she enjoyed all the care and comfort that a loving daughter could provide. She was a woman of fine character, loved by her many friends, and highly esteemed by all who knew her.

The funeral services were conducted at the home of Mrs. Noble by a minister from Coggon and the remains deposited in the vault in Oakland cemetery, the interment to take place later at Greeley. Mrs. Burbridge was a sister of the late E. W. and "Dick" Hoag, both well known in Manchester. At the funeral services were present, besides the nearer relatives and friends, H. C. Burbridge and wife of Washington, D. C., and grandson, James Burbridge, who arrived from service in France just in time to pay the last tribute of love to his departed grandmother.
