Hopkinton Woman Dies at Age 105.
Mrs. Marie Gienapp passes away January 15, 1931 to Remarkable Age.
Mrs. Marie Gienapp, died at the age of 105 yars and 19 days, having celebrated her birthday on Dec. 28, 1930. Mrs. Gienapp had been in her usual health up until she contracted a cold a short time ago, and then influenza, set in, which was more than one of her advanced years could stand, and she passed away peacefully on January 15, 1931. Marie Frederick was born in Sarnow, Germany in 1826 and in 1851 was married to John Gienapp. To this union were born three children; Fred Gienapp, who died a number of years ago; John Gienapp, of Laurel Neb.; and Mrs. Ben Kurth, of west of town, with whom her mother had lived for nearly half a century. In 1881 Mrs. Gienapp's husband died and two years later her mother who then had reached the age of 84. It was in the spring of 1884 that Mrs. Marie Gienapp and her three children came to America. They arrived in the town of Delaware, Delaware County, in May of the same year and since that time has made her home near here. She was a devoute christian woman, kind and good to allwho knew her. She leaves to mourn her loss, her devoted daughter and a son, John Gienapp, of Laurel, Neb.; twelve grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, besides a number of other relative and friends. Funeral services were held on Sunday at the German Lutheran hurch in Hopkinton, conducted by Rev. Melchert of Ryan. Burial was made in the Earlville cemetery.
