Ronald L. Glanz, Sr., 90, of Earlville, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Delaware by Pastor Donald Krause. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. today at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home in Earlville, and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Earlville.

Ronald was born Feb. 5, 1921, the son of Fred and Anna (Gurke) Glanz. He graduated from Oneida High School in 1939 where he enjoyed playing basketball. He married Muriel Orcutt on April 6, 1945, in Earlville. Muriel passed away Oct. 3, 2004.

Ronald was a successful farmer in the Delaware- Oneida area. In 1985, they retired and moved to Earlville. He was a resident of the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester since 2009. Ronald always enjoyed the special times spent with his grandchildren. He had a real compassion for the land and his livestock. Ronald will always be remembered by the stories he had to share with others. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Delaware, where he held numerous offices.

Ronald is survived by his three sons: Garlyn and Kathy Glanz of Earlville and their children, Andrew (fiancee Katie Goetzinger), Sara (fiance Wes Totman); Ron Jr. and Laura Glanz of Manchester and their children, Matthew (Marcia) and Jenna; Kevin and Sandy Glanz of Manchester and their children Kelley, Jessie and Jamie; one great-grandson, Bennett; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Baxter of California and Norma Baum of Illinois; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Ilene Orcutt of Earlville.

Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel; an infant son, Bennett; his parents, Fred and Anna Glanz; and siblings, Raymond, Irvin, Lorraine and Alice.

A memorial fund has been established in Ronald's memory.
