Glenn R Dunn
Glenn R. Dunn, former Manchester and Earlville resident, died Saturday in the Basler Convalescent home in Santa Ana, Calif.
He was born July 28, 1886, at Charles City, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Dunn. Later he came to Earlville with his parents where his father managed the Earlville creamery.
Mr. Dunn attended Lenox college at Hopkinton and received a pharmacy degree in Nebraska. He worked as a pharmacist in the Amsden drug store in Manchester for a time.
On Dec. 27, 1921, he was married to Ola Kling of Manchester at Charles City. He worked as a salesman for Sharpe and Dome drug company before owning and operating a drug store at Earlville. They moved to Waterloo in 1938 where he worked as district supervisor of the Iowa State Tax commission until 1953 when he retired and moved to Santa Ana.
Mr. Dunn served in the U.S. Army medical corps during World War I and was a 50-year Mason.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday in Santa Ana.
He is survived by a son, Bruce A. Dunn of Sierra Madre, Calif; one grandson, a brother, Garth, of Glendale, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews in California.
He was preceded in death by his wife who died in October of 1964, an infant son, his parents, one brother and a sister.
