DUBUQUE TELEGRAPH – HERALD AND TIMES JOURNAL; October 12, 1930

Ryan, Ia. – October, 11. Special: Funeral services were held at St. Patrick’s Church Friday morning at 9 o’clock for James McEnany, a lifelong resident of Delaware County who died at a Cedar Rapids hospital after submitting to an operation. The pastor, Rev. M. J. Farrelly read a requiem mass and delivered a sermon. The body was taken to the cemetery at Monti, Ia., for burial with J. H. McEnany, M. J. McEnany, James Carr, Wm. J. Monaghan, P. A. Heffernan, John Ryan, Edward Goss and John Devlin acting as pallbearers.

Mr. McEnany, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McEnany, was born in Adams Township, Delaware County, Jan. 18, 1871. He followed farming as an occupation and was an extensive buyer of horses and cattle. June 17, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Mamie E. Carr. They occupied his farm in the western part of the township until three years ago when they took up residence in Ryan.

He is survived by his widow, two brothers and three sisters, B. F. Woods, Bakersfield, Calif.; Arthur McEnany, Ryan; Mrs. P. M. Coleman, Coggan; Mrs. F. E. Farrell, Independence; Mrs. F. M. Beacom, Pierre, S. Dakota.
