MANCHESTER, Iowa - Donald Leo McGrane, 68, of Manchester, Iowa, died at his residence on Saturday, January 2, 2016.

He was born on October 25, 1947, in Dyersville, the son of Leo T. and Dorothy M. (Drees) McGrane. Donald was a Manchester High School graduate, attended college at St. Ambrose in Davenport, and then graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. Donald served honorably in the United Sates Army during the Vietnam War.

Donald was a Field Tax Auditor for the Internal Revenue Service for many years, retiring in the early 2000s. He was a member of the Lions Club and was a volunteer for Operation New View. He also did teaching for the Greater Delaware County Foundation. Donald enjoyed fishing trips with his family and worked on and later owned the family farm.

Survivors include his siblings, Mary Lou (William) March, of Hopkinton, and Karen (Barry) Davidson, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Rita McGrane, of Manchester; a brother-in-law, Phil Sperfslage, of Manchester; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dianne Sperfslage; two brothers, Kenny and David McGrane; a nephew, Lawrence March; and a great-nephew, Travis Krapfl.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church-Manchester, Iowa. Celebrant: Rev. Joseph Schneider. Visitation: 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, Iowa, where there will be a 2:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Friends may also call one hour before the service on Wednesday morning at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment with Military Rites: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery-Manchester, Iowa.
