Shirley Jean Saunders, 82, of Wiley, Texas, and formerly of Hopkinton and Buck Creek, died Friday, April 10, 2009 in Rowlett, Texas.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Hopkinton Cemetery. Rev. Lorraine Hartman will officiate at the services. The family will greet friends with a time of food and fellowship at the Buck Creek Methodist Church following the graveside service. Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Nancy) Saunders, Rowlett, Texas; and Michael (Barbara) Saunders, Janesville, Wis.; a granddaughter, Rachel (Michael) Snyder; and grandsons, Nathan and Matthew Saunders. She was preceded in death by her husband John F. Saunders on May 7, 1998.
