John F. Saunders, 78, of Wylie, Texas, formerly of Buck Creek, died Thursday, May 7, 1998, in Wylie after a brief illness. Graveside services and burial: 1:30 p.m. today, Hopkinton Cemetery. Services were Monday afternoon at Williams Funeral Home, Garland, Texas. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is in charge of local arrangements.

John is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Jerry (Nancy) of Rowlett, Texas, and Michael (Barbara) of Avalon, Wis.; three grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan and Matthew Saunders; five brothers, Paul of Wyoming, Iowa, Leo and Roy, both of Ryan, Lyle of Manchester and Chester of Minnetonka, Minn.; and a sister, Ellen Pritchard of Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sydney; and a sister, Gladys Schultz.
