Mildred E. (Wilson) Flannagan 1913-2005

Mildred Flannagan, 91, of Delhi, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, in Regional Medical Center, Manchester, following a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Buck Creek Methodist Church. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton. The Rev. Marti Montovani will officiate at the services.

Survivors include her two daughters, Martha Mauer and her special friend, Tony Emerson, of Delhi and Linda (Joseph) Cucci of St. Charles, Ill.; four granddaughters, Connie (John) Kramer, Nancy Mauer, Susan (Steve) Coleman and Jamie Cucci; four great-grandsons, Kaleb and Joshua Kramer, Carlos Diaz and Connor Coleman; and a baby Coleman due in December.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; three brothers, Howard, Junior and Lloyd Wilson; and a son-in-law, Charlie Mauer.

Mildred E. Wilson was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Union Township, Delaware County, Iowa, near Hopkinton, the daughter of Fred and Anna Bradke Wilson. She attended Brush Hill School near her home and later attended Hopkinton High School and Lenox College. She graduated from Lenox College in 1934, with a teaching certificate. Mildred taught in rural schools for several years. Mildred E. Wilson and William James Flannagan were married Jan. 1, 1941, at the Buck Creek Methodist Parsonage. The couple farmed in the Hopkinton area before settling in Delhi.

James preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1985.

Mildred had made her home in Delhi for the past 59 years. Mildred was a member of the Delhi Methodist Church. In her later years she enjoyed her family, reading and the company of her two cats.
