Franc Joseph Flannagan, 77, died of cancer Friday evening, March 8, 1996, in his home. Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, United Methodist Church. Burial: Hopkinton Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; a daughter, Diane (Doug) Kolek of Central City; two sons, David (Diane) of Monticello and Dennis (Diane) of Hopkinton; three brothers, Doran, Jay and Lyle, all of Hopkinton; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim and Dan.

Franc was born March 4, 1919, near Buck Creek, the son of William P. and Maude Moulton Flannagan. He married Gertrude Miles on March 24, 1945, in Buck Creek. Franc graduated from Buck Creek Schools in 1937. He then farmed with his parents until serving our country during World War II, where he was wounded in Italy and received the Purple Heart. Upon his return home, he worked with his brother, Pat, at Pat's Jack & Jill, Hopkinton, until his retirement in 1986. Franc was a member of the United Methodist Church, where he served as secretary and treasurer, and a member of Hopkinton American Legion.

Military honors by Hopkinton American Legion. Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopkinton American Veterans Memorial or Hospice of Delaware County.
