Callista T. Payne, 91, died Saturday morning, Feb. 3, 2001, in the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton. Burial: Hopkinton Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton, where a Scripture service begins at 7 p.m.

Surviving are two daughters, Rosemary (Tom) Glass of Delaware and Ruth Ann Feltes of Hopkinton; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Wilma) Albang of Anamosa; and a sister, Geneive McDonald of McClure, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Callista T. Albang was born Feb. 3, 1910, near Dyersville, the daughter of John and Theresa Warborg Albang. She received her education at St. Paul's Catholic School in Worthington and later in rural schools near Dyersville.

Callista Albang and Archie R. Payne were married Nov. 24, 1936, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sand Springs, Iowa. The couple farmed near Sand Springs and later near Hopkinton in South Fork Township. In 1951, the couple moved to Hopkinton. Callista then went to work at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. Archie preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1995. In October 1997, Callista moved to the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Hopkinton and the Rosary Guild.

A memorial fund has been established.
