Lyle C. Flannagan, 81, of Hopkinton, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Delhi, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, in the Tucson, Ariz., Heart Center following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; two sons, William of Cedar Rapids and Gary of Chula Vista, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara Oberbroeckling of Robins and Donna Mesch of Hiawatha; and a brother, Jay of Hopkinton.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Blanchard Flannagan; a daughter, Twila; his parents, William and Maude Moulton Flannagan; and four brothers, James, Dan, Doran and Franc.

Lyle was born May 26, 1921, in Hopkinton, Iowa. He married Florence Kenny on March 6, 1982, in Hopkinton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 311 in Hopkinton and First United Church in Hopkinton. He farmed most of his life.
