Suzanne C. "Suzie" Pins, 59, of 1580 Kebbie Drive, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 23, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.

She was born on June 2, 1949, in Dubuque, daughter of Anthony "Tony" and Lois (Goerdt) Pins. She graduated from Dyersville Beckman High School in 1967 and from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing three years later. For 37 years, Suzie worked as a registered nurse in the nursery unit at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, retiring in 2007. Family was very important to her and she continued her love for babies by caring for her great-nieces and nephews when they were infants. Playing and listening to music, card games, attending nieces' and nephews' sporting events and shopping were some of Suzie's favorite things to do. She also treasured spending time with her wide range of friends.

Surviving are her sisters; Nancy Knepper and Janice (Daniel) Smith, both of Dubuque, and Audrey (Jim) Golden, of Dyersville; her brother, Ken (Kim) Pins, of Rockville, Md.; 13 nieces and nephews, Stacy, Jennifer, Jeff, Allison, Christopher, Meredith, Jonathan, Bridget, Tony, Madeline, Tera, McKenzie and Connor; nine great-nieces and nephews, Andrea, Brock, Cooper, Drake, Joseph, Natalie, Kaitlyn, Makayla and Eliana; and many aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Joseph Knepper.
