DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Alois L. Oberbroeckling, 93, of Dyersville, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Ennoble Manor, Dubuque, after an extended illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kramer

Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m.

He was born on June 21, 1914, in New Vienna, son of Joseph and Clara (Hullerman) Oberbroeckling. He married Dorothy C. Lansing on June 1, 1937, in New Vienna; she preceded him in death in 1989.

Al farmed his entire life in New Vienna until his retirement in 1978.

He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, politics and his favorite T.V. show, "Wheel of Fortune". Al especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.

Surviving are his two daughters, Anita (Don) Manternach, of Cascade, and Karen (Garey) Salyars, of Stanwood; four sons, David (Thelma), of New Vienna, Rick (Jane), of Dubuque, Ken (Marge), of Dyersville, and Roy (Carolyn), of Worthington; 35 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Edwin "Bud", of Dyersville.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Paul) Domeyer; a granddaughter, Debbie Domeyer; five brothers, Gregor, Hugo, Lawrence and Alphonse and Vincent, in infancy; five sisters, Mary Wessels, Dorothy Wessels, Hilda Klosterman, Catherine Hoefer and Celia Lindauer.
