DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Cleo B. Nurre, 76, of Dyersville, died following a brief illness Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a Parish scripture service at 4:30 p.m.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1923, in New Vienna, son of Clem and Rose (Herbers) Nurre. He married Wilma Kister on July 3, 1945, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica. They farmed in the area until their retirement in 1983. He was a past member of the Extension Council, Manchester; past director of Mississippi Valley Milk Producers; and past board member of Bi-County Ambulance, Dyersville. Surviving are his wife, Wilma; two daughters, Carol (Larry) Yudis, of Bettendorf, and Mary Ellen (Bill) Spoden, of Worthington; four grandchildren, Chris Yudis, of Bettendorf, Jessica Yudis, of Fridley, Minn., Randy Spoden, of Garland, Texas, and Brad Spoden, of Des Moines; two brothers, Ray (Joan) Nurre and Ralph (Lillian) Nurre, both of Dyersville; and two sisters, Norma Vaughn, of Dubuque, and Marian (Neil) White, of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rita Bockenstedt and Carolyn Nurre; and a brother-in-law, Jay Vaughn.
