Cecilia Grace Dudley, 86, of Manchester, Iowa, died at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester on Thursday, July 2, 2009. She was born on September 1, 1922, at Earlville, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Marie (Schmitz) Goldsmith. Sis was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Delhi High School in 1941. After graduation she worked as a switchboard operator at General Telephone in Manchester.

Sis met Robert Dudley at the skating rink in Manchester the summer of 1941, and married the love of her life on June 28, 1944, at First Lutheran Church in Manchester by Rev. Adix. Together they farmed near Manchester until 1955; they moved to Worthington and farmed until 1989, when they returned to Manchester for retirement.

Sis was a member of First Lutheran Church in Manchester, and previously the Presbyterian Community Church in Cascade. She was active in many volunteer activities including quilting, pie baking, and Camp Courageous Garage Sale. Her family enjoyed many wonderful homecooked meals served with love. She treasured family gatherings and considered her grandchildren her special blessings. Sis also enjoyed fishing, walking in the timber, milking by hand, and hunting mushroom, berries, and ginseng.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Dudley of Manchester; her six children, Ronald (Joyce) Dudley of Eagle River, Alaska, Dave (Rita) Dudley of Manchester, Donna Beadle of Dubuque, Dianne (David) Corbin of Farley, Steven (Cindy) Dudley of Grinnell, and Mark (Joyce) Dudley of Worthington; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo “Duff” Goldsmith of Earlville and Alfred (Marjorie) Goldsmith of McGregor; and one sister, Florence Henkles of Elkader.

Sis was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, an infant sister, Monica, a toddler brother, Thomas, Bernard Goldsmith, Matilda Goldsmith, Maritta Knospie, Nellie Fergerson, Ada Hakansen, Helen Bush, and Rose Gogel; and son-in-law, Tom Beadle.

Visitation: 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. July 05, 2009 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home & Crematory - Manchester, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. July 06, 2009 at First Lutheran Church - Manchester, Iowa. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Monday.

Interment: July 06, 2009 at Oakland Cemetery - Manchester, Iowa.
