Ambrose Henry Schaul, 94, of Manchester, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Ambrose was born on August 21, 1914, on a farm near Luxemburg, the son of Adoulf and Matilda (Steffen) Schaul. He was raised and educated in the Luxemburg area.

On November 12, 1941, Ambrose was united in marriage to Rosalyn “Rose” Sigwarth in Balltown. Seven children were born to this union. Together they farmed southwest of Manchester and retired to Manchester in 1977.

Ambrose was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a love for farming, and greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling as a past time.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalyn Schaul of Manchester; seven children, Dennis Schaul of Manchester, Janet (Ed) Glynn of Ryan, Dale (Bäerbel) Schaul of Madison, Wisconsin, Mary Ann Stevenson of Boulder, Colorado, Mark (Marcia) Schaul of West Des Moines, Joan (Jan) Clark of Delaware, and Dean Schaul of Manchester; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild; and one sister, Marie Sigwarth of Marion.

Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Olive Hermsen, Margaret Meyer, and Theckla Hoeger; and four brothers, Joseph, Victor, Aloysius, and Edmund Schaul.

Visitation: 2:00 - 7:00 p.m.; with a Scripture Service at 4:00 P.M. July 02, 2009 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home - Manchester, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Visitation one hour before service at the church July 03, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church - Manchester, Iowa.

Interment: July 03, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery - Manchester, Iowa.
