Mrs. Eva Jane Lyman
Mrs. Eva Jane Lyman, 78, life long resident of this community, died at the June nursing home on Friday, September 12, 1952, after a protracted illness. Funeral services were held at the Gill chapel on Monday afternoon, the Rev. Robert Boehleke officiating, with burial in Oakland cemetery.
Eva Jane, daughter of P.S. and Mary Noble Crosby, Manchester pioneers, was born here Feb. 22, 1874, and obtained an education in the local schools. She was twice married. On Feb. 7, 1894, she became the wife of Loren D. Snyder, who departed this life Nov. 1, 1909 and on Sept. 25, 1912, she was married to Sanford Lyman, Prairie township pioneer, who died Nov. 9, 1928. For many years, while in good health, Mrs. Lyman was actively engaged as a seamstress. She was a member of Presbyterian church and for years active in the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Orville Rossow, of Masonville; a son, Lionel Snyder, of Duluth, MN; a sister, Mrs. Flora Garrison of this city; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves three stepsons, Archie, Clarence, and George Lyman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lyman was preceded in death by a son, George Snyder, who died May 10, 1946, and a stepson, Oba Lyman.
