Death of Former Resident in Oregon
Fred Lyman, Passes Away after Illness of Four Years
Left This County for West in 1900
Belated word has reached us of the death of Fred Lyman, a brother of the late Sanford Lyman and a native of Prairie township, Mr. Lyman's home was at Amity, Ore., and he had reached the age of 58 years. For the past four years he had been in failing health, his death occurring on April 17, 1934. Funeral services were held two days later from a funeral home in McMinnville, Ore., the Rev. Thomas Hardie, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen Memorial cemetery near McMinnville.
Mr. Lyman was born on his father's farm in Prairie township March 14, 1876, and resided there until 1900, when he went to Platte, S.D. On Feb 6, 1906, he was united in marriage with Miss Fannie B. Joslin of this city, and until the spring of 1909 they were engaged in farming near Platte. They then removed to Amity, Ore. For the past quarter of a century Mr. Lyman resided in the Unionvale and Webfoot districts of Oregon. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Artazena Grossman; four sons - Chester T., Floyd and Thomas, all of Dayton, Ore., and Victor of Baker Ore; two nieces and several nephews residing in and near Manchester. Mr. Lyman's death is a severe blow to his family, to whom he was uniformly kind and indulgent, and to his friends, who esteemed him as a man of exemplary life and neighborly instincts. Old friends here who knew and regarded him highly extend sympathy to those of his immediate family and to the relatives in this locality.
