Mrs. Thos. McCarthy Answers Summons
Well Known Woman's Death Follow Illness of One Month
Born in Prairie Twp.
Husband, Three Sons, One Daughter and a Brother, Fred Lyman, Survive
Mrs. Thomas McCarthy a Resident of Prairie township all of her life, passed away at the family home at 9 o'clock this (Wednesday) morning, following an illness of about a month. Anemia was the cause of her death.
Funeral services will be held at the family home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in Oakland Cemetery.
Nora Lyman, daughter of the late C.W. Lyman, was born in Prairie township June 29, 1862, and all of her life was spent in that locality. She was united in marriage with Thomas McCarthy on Feb. 21, 1889. To them were born five children, one of whom Sylvester, was killed accidentally by coming in contact with the flywheel of a gasoline engine in 1910, at the age of 18 years.
The children who survive their mother are Chester McCarthy, Miss Phoebe McCarthy, and Harry McCarthy, all of Praire township, and Andrew L. McCarthy of Waterloo. She also leaves a brother, Fred Lyman of Dayton, Ore.
Mrs. McCarthy was affiliated with the Methodist church at Sand Creek for many years, and was a kindly hearted woman, beloved by a large circle of friends. The sympathy of many friends goes out to the family in this sorrow.
