Battle Ground
A homemaker who worked at Alcoa during World War II, Iva Marie "Ivy" Strief died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, in Battle Ground. She was 89.
Mrs. Strief, whose maiden name was Miller, was born March 27, 1913, in Dyersville, Iowa. She moved to Vancouver in 1942, and then into her daughter's Battle Ground home nine years ago.
Mrs. Strief also worked in the shipping department of Jantzen Knitting Mills for eight years.
She enjoyed bowling, baking, singing, and writing letters to family and friends.
Her husband, Chris F., died in 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Schulte of Battle Ground and Nancy Atterberry of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Beulah "Bee" Buelow of Dubuque, Iowa; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Private burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
