Service for Jeffrey ``Jeff'' Jones, 53, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jones, who was born in Manchester, Iowa, died Sunday.

He attended Florida State University, where he did his undergraduate work, got an Master of Science degree and received a Juris Doctor law degree.

Mr. Jones married Debra Heise in 1978, and the couple lived in the Caldwell, Idaho, area.

He was the chief deputy prosecuting attorney for Canyon County for seven years before moving to Sandpoint in 1985 and working as the Coeur d'Alene city attorney for 16 years. He became the Sandpoint city attorney in 2001.

Mr. Jones was a member of the State Bar Association in Florida and Idaho.

Mr. Jones was an Eagle Scout and was a former leader of Boy Scout Troop 111.

He enjoyed biking, camping, skiing and outdoor activity.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Bryant Jones of Burlington, Vt., and Zachary and Mackenzie Jones, both of Sandpoint; a sister, Candela Jones of Tallahassee, Fla.; and a niece, Heidi Cheatum of Denver.
