The remains of John Currie were accompanied here by his nephew, J. P. Currie for burial at Oak Hill cemetery. John Gay Currie, was the son of Robert and Agnes Currie and was born Sept 5, 1842 at S. Louis, Missouri. He enlisted in the Civil War at Dubuque in the 12th IA. Inf. And following his discharge went west to Butte, Montana., where he engaged in mining, and where he has lived since, until his death on April 14, 1930. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. J. L. Goodrich of Colesburg, two nephews, J. P. Currie of Ryegate and Frank Nunemaker of Dallas, South Dakota; and three nieces, Jennie Grennels of Idaho, Mrs. C. Wiltsie of Venice, Calif., and Mrs. Alba Walker of Colesburg.
