September 1924The community was shocked on Wednesday morning, when the sad news reached us that F. M. Brock had been killed the previous day, Sept 23, 1924 near O’Brien, Montana. For several years he operated a ranch in Golden Valley County, Montana, twenty miles from Ryegate, where his brother, R. C. Currie resides. One of the horses he was working suddenly reared, crushing his chest and breaking his back, causing instant death.
Franklin McGregor Brock, son of Thomas and Agnes Brock was born near Colesburg, Jan 11, 1856. Here he grew to manhood. For many years he was engaged in the pottery business. Of late years he spent the summer season at the Montana ranch, returning to the old hometown for the winters. He never married, but made his home with his sister, Mrs. Jane Goodrich.
Besides his sister, he is survived by two brothers, John Currie, Butte, Mont. And Robert Currie, Ryegate, Mont. Three nieces, Mrs. Jane Grinnels of Idaho, Mrs. Erma C. Wiltsie, Ryegate, and Mrs. Alba Walker of this place, and two nephews, John Currie, Ryegate and Frank Nunamaker of Dillion S.D.
He was a member of the fraternal circles of the Masonic Lodge, O. E. S., I. O. O. F. and the Rebekah’s and A. O. G. The remains were brought to the home of his niece, Mrs. Walker and funeral services were held at the graveside on Sunday at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
