Joan Betty Rodies, 62, died Monday, March 24, 1997, in Delaware County Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Committal services will be at a later date. Burial: Oakland Cemetery. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home, Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her father, Burdette of Manchester; an aunt, Alberta Rodies, of Manchester; and five cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother; two uncles, John Spoerl and Wayne Rodies; and an aunt, Bernice Smith.
Joan was born the daughter of Burdette and Marie Spoerl Rodies on Nov. 25, 1934, in Ryan, Iowa. She loved working around her home, whether it was inside cleaning or taking care of the yard. She also enjoyed going on rides in the car, dining out, and thoroughly loved to shop.

Joan loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial fund has been established in her name to go to: Hospice of Comfort, 709 West Main St., P.O. Box No. 359, Manchester, Iowa 52057.
