In Response To: Re: Calvin L. Board Family (C. Combs)

Yes, George Boord of Edgar Co, IL, did have a son named Calvin L Boord. He would have been born in Kentucky, which is what the 1870 census says about Calvin L Boord in Iowa, and the dates work, so I strongly suspect that Calvin L moved from Illinois to Iowa sometime before 1854 (when he's listed in the Iowa state census).

Unfortunately, connecting Calvin to George Boord doesn't get you very far. Thanks to his will, census and land records, and a family history, we have some info about George's spouses (3) and children (many) but nothing about George himself apart from his having been born, apparently, in what was then Virginia and then moving to Ohio, KY, and Illinois.

(I'm a descendent of his second son, Elijah, who was born, apparently, in what was then VA in 1799, raised in Ohio, and moved to Indiana with his young family in the 1830s.)
