The community was saddened when it was learned that the death angel had claimed as his own the life of MRS. VERNA LINDEN DILLON. While she had been in poor health for some time and her demise not unexpected, yet all hearts were made sad. We sometimes wonder why one so young in life and possessing talents and intellect, has to be cut down when usefulness in life is just unfolding before them. Seems to us that there is so much for them to do in this world. But God knows all things best.

VERNA was born July l7, l893, at Durham, Marion County, Iowa, and died at the home of her parents, MR. and MRS. M. LINDEN, in Hamilton Township, Decatur County, April 7, l92l, aged 27 years, 6 months, 20 days. She was married to L.A. DILLON, June 3, l9ll. To this union were born two children, LOLA FAYE, aged 9 years and HENRY LINDEN, aged 7 years.

She came to this county with her parents when she was two years old where she spent her girlhood days. After finishing common school she went to Leon High School and thoroughly fitted herself for teaching and became one of Decatur County's best as she possessed a kind and winning way, held the respect of her pupils. She was held in high esteem and loved by all her old acquaintances, as demonstrated by the large and beautiful floral offerings. She leaves to mourn their loss, two children, parents, three sisters, four brothers, a host of friends.

The funeral services were held at New Salem Church, conducted by Rev. Elba Dale, where one of the largest crowds of sorrowing friends paid their last respects. The church was filled to its utmost. The body was tenderly laid to rest underneath the bank of beautiful flowers, there to await the home of resurrection of the just for at the parting she gave evidence of a bright pathway.
